Very recently I was inspired to look for signs of love throughout Vancouver...

Not long ago I heard about The Love Umbrella Project from one of our fabulous Elite Pros, Bake Photography, and was intrigued. In short, The Love Umbrella Project was established to inspire Vancouver's communities to share the story of how love illuminates their community. Thirteen incredible local photographers (including Melissa @bakephotography!) collaborated to create images that show love at work in our beautiful city. View Melissa's shoot here.

"In each photograph is at least one umbrella. As a common thread representing hope, joy, and love; we hope it gives coherence and strength to disparate individual images."

On Valentine's Day, they are holding an exhibition and silent auction with all proceeds going to a local organization devoted to youth anti-violence programs. Incredibly amazing, right?!

Seeing photos of these heart-shaped umbrellas linking friends and strangers in positivity and growth is so powerful. It gave me the idea to look in everyday places for subtle and unexpected signs or symbols of love. 

I was on this train of thought while I was out for a family walk over the weekend. As many of you know, I love to frequently snap photos of my children and favorite moments, entirely as a personal hobby. We were heading from our new Southeast False Creek neighborhood around the seawall to downtown when we stumbled upon several locks secured to a chainlink fence. Many of the locks had the names of couples painted on them. A few had a simple heart and a few more were plain, but still there, holding strong. The word "LOVERS" was painted on the path. I don't know who started this, or how long it's been here, but found it beautiful, nonetheless.

I'll be on the lookout for more lucky little signs of love. I'll be sure to post them here as I find them;)
