It's a little hard to believe that this weekend Mike & I will be celebrating our 11 year wedding anniversary. 11 whole years! Okay seriously, how did the time pass so quickly?!

In the past decade+ since we said "I Do" to each other, we've found comfort beyond words in knowing we have our life partner and best friend by our side. Fittingly, both of our wedding bands carry the inscription "Best Friends & Lovers" ...a tiny, hidden detail I cherish greatly to this day. It's a perfect written reminder of not only our commitment to each other and to our marriage, but also of our commitment to our friendship. Building a marriage based on love, admiration and respect for each other, and also centered around the deepest friendship, has been a key element in our marital bliss.

We're crossing our fingers that the West Coast rain stays away so we just might be able to take a day trip up to Whistler to celebrate.

Last week we had the pleasure of meeting Jarusha Brown in person for the first time at the Vancouver Wedding Industry Meetup. While we've "known" Jarusha online and by her work, it was truly lovely to finally meet face-to-face. Hiking in high heels! For this engagement session, Jeff and Cat from the Apartment Photography took their couple off-the-grid in West Vancouver's famed Lighthouse Park. We absolutely love this location and the beautiful photos of Shelley and Phil prove it was worth the 2 hour walk!

"During our first meeting Phil and Shelley told us about how they love to go for hikes through the forest. Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver is one of those places that they frequently visit so when it came to thinking of a location for their engagement session it was a pretty easy decision. On a side note, I just want to mention how engagement session are really about the people and their relationship to each other and not just "pretty" pictures of people. That's why when we think of locations we try and find places that mean something to them. Or even activities that they love doing together. That way when their friends and family see the images, they'll see the depth to them. Anyways, we hiked around for about 2 hours and I think we got some amazing shots.
