The Tale of the Two Lifeguards

Reblogged by WedOverHeels

So charming and stylish! Love this beautiful, laid-back engagement session by the awesome OwlandFoxStudios team!

We can't wait to see Thomas and Eren's wedding this summer!

Eren & Thomas are getting married... and we got to hang out and capture some moments.

By owlandfoxstudios | Reblogs: 1 | View Original

Once up on a time (about a year and half ago), Andy was awaiting his work permit to arrive.  Andy one day happened upon a you tube channel called “Jimmy Knows” (http://www.youtube.com/user/jimmyknowsproduction).  No longer were Andy’s days sad and gloomy, but instead, filled with laughter.

Fast forward one year, and we have the great pleasure of meeting Eren & Thomas for a coffee in Langley.  As we are all chatting, it comes out that Thomas has been pursuing acting.  Just then, Andy comes to the realization that he is from his favourite you tube channel, Jimmy Knows.  Needless to say, it was a chance meeting, but we now have the honour of documenting their special day in July.

Eren & Thomas are so laid-back, and great fun.  They were such good sports for allowing us to photograph their session in the misting rain, despite the weather reports for sun.  We met them at Redwoods park in Surrey- if you have never been there, you should really go.  It’s absolutely stunning, and feels almost mystical- as if fairies were going to come and grace your presence.  Fun fact about the Redwoods:  if you are walking along the trails, you should really look down at the base of some of the trees, as a carpenter has created small little doors (one of the locals let us in on the secret!).

We asked Eren & Thomas a few questions…

How did you guys meet?

“We met at Al Anderson Memorial Pool and worked together there for 3 years. During Eren’s 4th season we  fell in love and started dating!”

What is your favourite thing about each other?

Eren: My favourite thing about Thomas is his sense of humor.

Thomas:  My favourite thing about Eren is her strength. She is patient, kind, and generous to everyone she meets no matter how they treat her.

How did you two get engaged- now we have to say, this story is so beautiful and so well planned out!

“We got engaged on November 3rd, 2012. I first took Eren out to DeDutch for some breakfast. We have gone here many times and she is Dutch, so it fits! Then we went to Derby Reach, and it was pouring rain, but I said I wanted to go for a swim. She “convinced” me not to. We then went to the Fort Wine Co. for a quick wine tasting. It went much quicker than I anticipated, and so we went back to her house and watched Downton Abbey and dried off! Then I took her to Redwood Park, and we got a little wet again.

Now to the good part. I took her to “Charlie Don’t Surf” at White Rock. We ate our dinner and then I had to stall while my friend Dan got everything ready. When I got the go ahead from Dan, we went for a walk on the pier. It had just stopped raining so it was good enough! We walked to the end and talked for a bit, I knew she was waiting for me to pop the question. Then I said, “well I guess it is time to head back.” She was definitely deflated until I said, “what is that?” I then stripped down to my boxers and jumped in the water. She was screaming. I grabbed the piece of garbage floating in the water and swam to the lower dock. Dan had been waiting underneath the pier with the garbage waiting for my signal. I got out and started to rip open the box, but it was quite difficult. Finally, I got it open and pulled out the ring and said, “Eren McQuistin, will you marry me?”

And she said, “Yes!” ‘

And finally, what do you two love to do together?

“We love to go to movies and restaurants a lot. We both enjoy going swimming and we love the water. We love hanging out with our friends and double dating. But, mostly we just enjoy each others company no matter what we are doing!”

Lindsey & Ryan's Steamboat Springs Wedding

19
NOV

When horses crashed their wedding day, a memorable day was made even more magical!

By WedOverHeels | Reblogs: 1

It was love at first sight for us when we saw today's wedding from Kristy of Wreckless Creative. We were so smitten in fact that we asked Kristy if we could feature one of the photos on our homepage! Today's wedding captures the richness of the season with its warm autumn tones and genuine nostalgic feel.

Lindsey and Ryan were married among the aspens and pines in the groves of the Perry Mansfield Cabins, just outside Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The golden leaves and white tree trunks provided a perfect backdrop for their big day. The months Lindsey spent planning were so apparent in the details that Kristy beautifully captured. And after reading about the meaning and sentimental value behind the items, their importance enriched the day further. It was truly a day filled with great friends, amazing details and true romance. The horses that descended on Lindsey and Ryan's post-ceremony photos were pure magic.

From the bride:

"We never questioned where we would get married, as Steamboat is such an important part of our lives. We met there, fell in love there, and always feel so full of life and love when we go back to visit. Perry Mansfield is nestled into such a beautiful place of Steamboat, and I'll go ahead and say that our wedding felt truly magical amidst those shimmering yellow leaves and the soft autumn light. Not to mention the horses who made cameo appearances in our wedding photos!"

From the bride:

"One of the first things I ever picked out for wedding decorations were those little flags with birds and butterflies on them (BHLDN). I loved them instantly and only later realized that a big part of why I was drawn to them was because they reminded me of some old wallpaper in my grandmother's home. She is a very special person in my life, and I loved the idea of paying a little omage to her on such a special day. I also bought a bunch of old sheets at a thrift store to make the hay bail covers. I really liked the mix of all the different floral patterns on the fabrics because they gave me a sense of nostalgia and added just the right amount of sweetness amid all of the fun."

From the bride:

"We also picked Perry Mansfield right away because we loved that we would be able to rent out little cabins along with lots of friends and family on the property. We called it "Wedding Camp" and loved that everyone could mingle on their porches, stroll along the wooded trails around the property, and meet each other before the actual wedding. By the time the wedding rolled around, the atmosphere among our guests was so relaxed and joyful, and I think the setup of our venue had a lot to do with that. Well, that and we just have really amazing friends and family!"

From the bride:

"Our friends were so integral in creating the feel of our wedding site, and they were so sweet to volunteer to spend a few hours the day of the wedding setting up (after pre-wedding yoga, hiking, and mountain biking of course!). I had picked up things here and there that I liked in the months prior, but on the morning of the wedding, we really gave our friends free-reign over where and how they used the materials we had. They did such a fantastic job of making the whole environment feel whimsical and joyful while not detracting too much from the beautiful natural environment of the aspen forest. Ryan and I were so grateful and so pleased with how our friends put their own twists and spins on setting the stage for our wedding. It helped bring home the importance and value we place on being part of a loving community."

From the bride:

"I will forever love our ceremony so much because it felt so genuine and personal. A good friend of ours officiated, a couple of friends played and sang a special song, another friend played the djembe while I walked down the aisle, on and on. We told our attendants to wear whatever they wanted, as we just wanted to honor their roles in our lives by having them stand with us on this important moment. Each choice we made about our ceremony felt as though we were being mindful of what was important to us and how we wanted to join our lives in marriage."

From the bride:

"I loved each piece of the day so much and have never experienced so much love in my life. We were very honored and grateful for all of our guests and their special roles in our wedding, and I think that, more than anything, helped set the tone for a completely blissful day."

A blissful day indeed. Thank you Lindsey and Ryan for allowing us to join in on the celebration by sharing your special day with all of us!
