Floral design is such a creative process and choosing your wedding flowers should be a fun and enjoyable experience!
The world of flowers is a vast one and a good florist should be able to take cues from your wedding location, theme, and your personality to help guide you in your overall design. Floral design is such a creative process and choosing your wedding flowers should be a fun and enjoyable experience!
In many cases, your color palette and design influences will drive the concept of your wedding flowers. However, we are seeing more and more couples who are looking for seasonal product to build their floral designs and decor around. While there are plenty of truly seasonal blooms (think Lily of the Valley which is only available for a few weeks in the spring), most accomplished florists work with a wide network of wholesalers who buy from floral markets around the world and can supply an astounding variety of flowers all year round.
Of course, flowers flown in from Holland or Chile are not without a considerable carbon footprint, so if you are hoping to keep you wedding as green as possible, talk with your florist about locally sourcing some of your blooms. These will certainly be seasonal items and the variety will vary based on your location. In this case, be prepared to agree to a color palette and not necessarily the exact variety of flower as local growing seasons can be unpredictable.
